There is a large expanse of beach along the Jumeirah Corniche where you can swim and sunbathe, which also includes kite beach, a place which is reserved exclusively for kite surfing. The beach is made up of pristine white sand with beautiful azure/turquoise sea so is well worth a visit.
The main area of beach is the Open Beach which is located in Umm Suqeim 1 and has for a long time been a lovely big beach which has drawn in tourists and residents alike.
Now that the boulevard has been open it is lovely to walk along to just take in views of the beach or sit on one of the many benches that are located along the corniche.
The public beaches have lifeguards at particular times and there are flags to tell you when and where it is safe to swim. As well as swimming and kite surfing you can also take part in various other watersports along the beach area including kayaking and windsurfing.
There are also some beach volleyball courts for public use.
In addition, it is also possible to hire deck chairs and sunbeds as well as beach umbrellas at some locations.
The public beaches along Jumeirah corniche are free to access. There are cafes, coffee shops and toilet facilities along the expanse of the beachfront for everyone to use.
The government have installed solar powered wifi access points at various points along the beach for public use. These wifi points are free and they also include 8 charging points for various makes of phone. Also there is a touch screen to give information about the beach and Dubai in general.
The wifi can be accessed by 50 people at a time and can be used at a distance of 200m from the SmartPalm.
